Product Review: TATCHA Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder

I will readily admit that most of the time, I think luxury skin products are over-rated (and over-priced). If I can find a product with similar ingredients at a fraction of the price, I'm going to save myself some money. But there's always an exception. For me, it's TATCHA. Every time I try one of their products - I fall in love. And their Classic Rice Enzyme Powder is no exception.

They have four different Rice Enzyme Powder products, but I will be talking about the Classic version:

  • Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder (for normal to dry skin)
  • Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder for Dry Skin
  • Indigo Soothing Rice Enzyme Powder for Sensitive Skin
  • Balanced The Deep Polish (for combination to oily skin)

Their website describes the product as "a water-activated enzyme powder and cleanser of rice bran, papaya and our anti-aging HADASEI-3™ Complex. Reveals skin's natural gleam."

TATCHA Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder has a convenient shaker top.

The powder is white and a bit grainy. You pour about a half teaspoon in your damp hands (I always add a little more water).

As you rub your hands together it's starts to lightly foam. You then massage it onto your damp face for about 10-60 seconds - avoiding eyes. You can feel the product become less grainy as you massage it on your skin. It also becomes "drier". If it becomes too dry to massage, I just dampen my hands a little more, then rinse when finished.

It's amazing how the crushed pearl make your skin feel so smooth and soft! I know that alcohol is listed as an ingredient, but it's next to last, and I've never noticed my face feeling dry. You can even use this product daily because the exfoliation is so gentle. I've found it to be a great help in getting rid of the "flakes" from using tretinoin (Retin A) without irritating my skin.

A full-size 2.1 oz. jar is around $65. I picked up a mini jar for around $25 because I wanted to try it before dropping $65. I have a little left, but I see a full-size jar in my future because I like it so much!

Have you tried any of the TATCHA products? Which one is your favorite?
