I should point out that there is the Production Works just down the road, plus they have volleyball, canoeing and kayaking, and cycling - as well as running groups!
We highly recommend visiting the brewpub. There's a bar area as well as lots of tables and chairs. We had a cozy corner table/booth in a section with just five other tables. The food was awesome! I had the grilled cheese - and it ain't your mama's grilled cheese. Imagine whipped ricotta, provolone, marinated artichokes, and roasted mushrooms on grilled focaccia bread. Delicious. I also had a bowl of their chili which was also very tasty. (Note: There are no photos of Gus' or Buddy's food because they get all huffy when they're starving and I try to take pictures. But they both enjoyed their meal.)
We each had our own flight of beer, and also shared so we could try as many as possible. Later, I opted for a pint of Doom Pedal, which I very kindly shared with Gus. I enjoyed all of the beer I chose, and so did Gus and Buddy. Very smooth and easy to drink. As a matter of fact, since sampling several of their brews, if we're out and a restaurant has something from Fifty West, I will almost always order it - that's how much I like their beer (unless it's an IPA).
My favorites*:
- X-mas Cookie (Christmas ale/spiced) - tastes like an oatmeal cookie!
- Going Plaid Scotch Ale
- Doom Pedal (white ale)
- American Lager
- Kettle to Farm Sorta Cider
- Home Sweet Home Brown Ale
- Main Street Amber Ale
- Doom Pedal
- X-mas Cookie
- Going Plaid Scotch Ale
- Main Street Amber Ale
- Punch You in the EyePA (double IPA)
- David Hopperfield (red IPA)
- Coffee Please Nitro (stout)
- Alternate Route (Altbier)
- Going Plaid Scotch Ale
- X-mas Cookie
- American Lager
After we finished our meal and beer, we wandered back through the brewpub (mostly so I could use the restroom). That's when we saw the brewery. Very cool.
I also loved their beer menus! I want to learn to write like this!
And I can't forget to mention their merchandise. Once again, we couldn't leave without making some purchases. I got a great long-sleeve t-shirt. It's sooo soft. I love it and wear it all the time. Buddy picked up a pint glass and metal sign for his collections.
