Product Review: Living Proof Perfect hair Day® Dry Shampoo

You guys know I love a good dry shampoo, and I always have one on hand. I've reviewed a few lately, and they've ranged from one I really liked (Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo) to one that was less than stellar (Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo).

Today, I'm going to review my current favorite dry shampoo - Living Proof Perfect hair Day® (PhD) Dry Shampoo.

If you haven't read my other dry shampoo reviews, then you don't know that I'm pretty picky. I expect my dry shampoo to perform a certain way - and if it doesn't, then that product isn't sticking around long. For each of my dry shampoo reviews, I tell you whether or not that product met each of my five expectations.

I expect my dry shampoo:
  • to have a light, pleasant scent that dissipates fairly quickly
  • to not leave a white/light-colored residue on hair
  • to not leave my hair feeling stiff or "dirty"
  • to not leave hair looking dull
  • to leave my hair easy to style

I've never been shy about stating my love for Living Proof hair products and their dry shampoo is no exception. There's just something about this product that works so well with my hair. I can use it for 2-3 days (and yes, on occasion, 4 days) and still not have any build-up. Big fan here!

Living Proof says that their dry shampoo is powered by their patented Healthy Hair Molecule (OFPMA) and Triple-Cleaning Technology that will absorb and remove oil, sweat, and odor, as well as make your hair look, feel, and smell clean. It works on all hair colors because it leaves virtually no visible residue or build-up. It also has a time-released fragrance that delivers a light, clean scent throughout the day.

Directions: Shake well. Hold can 6-10 inches away from dry hair, then apply section by section in a sweeping motion to dirty or oily areas. Wait 30 seconds, then massage hair with fingers or brush hair. Apply more if needed. If you see a little white residue just wait 30 seconds and brush gently to remove.

Light, pleasant scent that dissipates fairly quickly? I'm fairly sensitive to fragrances, so I really prefer unscented products - although I can see that sometimes you might want a slight fragrance to "freshen" your hair. The Living Proof dry shampoo doesn't smell like their regular shampoos or conditioners. I don't hate the scent, but I don't love it either. It does, however, dissipate fairly quickly, and I don't notice it lingering, so I'm okay with it. Check! (Note: Gus likes the scent.)

Doesn't leave a white/light-colored residue on hair? I've never noticed any residue at all from this product, which is one of the reasons I love it so much. Check!

Doesn't leave my hair feeling stiff or "dirty"? After using this dry shampoo, my hair always feels soft and clean. It's pretty impressive how much it can make my hair feel like "clean" hair! Check!

Doesn't leave my hair looking dull? My hair doesn't just feel soft and clean, it actually looks clean! There's none of that dullness that some dry shampoos leave on your hair. Check!

Leaves my hair easy to style? After using the Living Proof dry shampoo, I never have any problems styling my hair. It doesn't feel like there is any residue on my hair - just clean hair that is easy to style. Check!

As you can see, this product does everything I ask it to do! If I had to choose a down side to it, I would say it's the price. I can go through a can of dry shampoo fairly quickly, so paying $20+ for it - even when I love it - hurts a little. I just keep my eyes open for good deals!

I do recommend this product. Not only does it do what it claims it will do, it also does everything I want my dry shampoo to do!
