I have to tell you up front - I bought mine several months ago online at Sephora. But when I tried to find links for this post, I saw that the Coconut version is no longer available from the US store - only the Canadian store. I searched for it other places as well, but it's impossible to find - it's not even on the Tony Moly website. So I feel a little weird reviewing a product that is so difficult to currently find in the US. I do know that Ulta carries the I'm Real masks individually (I saw them in my local store), but I didn't notice whether or not they had Coconut. There are several other versions - like Tea Tree, Tomato, Lemon, Rice, Makgeolli, Seaweed, Aloe, Broccoli, Avocado, Orange, Pomegranate, and Red Wine. If you can't find the Coconut, you'll probably be able to find one or more of the others.
The Coconut sheet mask is specifically for hydration. It is a cloth sheet, so it's a bit sloppy wet right out of the package, but I didn't have too much trouble with it once it was applied. There is a bit of fragrance in it, but it's the last ingredient, and I didn't have any issues with my sensitive skin. It smells really good if you're a fan of coconut!
Here's a list of the ingredients:
- Coconut Extract: has anti-bacterial properties and helps detoxify skin
- Sweet Almond Extract: protects skin from drying out, keeps it smooth and supple
- Glycerin: supports natural skin cell maturation
- Allantoin: soothes and protects skin
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Mineral Oil, Dimethicone, Polysorbate 80, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Allantoin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance.
Like most sheet masks, it comes folded inside the package, and it's pretty saturated with the serum. It's easy to unfold, and as you can see in the second photo below, there are generous eye and mouth openings - which is my biggest complaint with most sheet masks.
As you can see below, the fit isn't great. The area under my eyes and around my mouth - the spots that have fine lines that could use some plumping - aren't even covered by the mask. I find that I get the best results (ie. lines plumped, wrinkles smoothed) with gel masks that adhere well to the skin (like with the Tony Moly Snail Hydro-Gel Face Mask Sheet. And can I just say that I hope you guys appreciate these pictures because I look like a big goober in them!
I didn't really notice a change in the way my skin looked after using this mask, but it felt hydrated, and softer and smoother. And there's just something relaxing about lying down with a mask on your face. For $3.75, it's a great way to kick back and relax for 20-30 minutes and give your face a little boost of hydration.
Have you tried Tony Moly masks?
