On Sunday, Gus and I headed out to Chuy's for dinner again. It's one of my favorite places to eat, even though it's a chain restaurant. I love the deluxe chicken enchiladas with the deluxe tomatilla sauce. Yum-my. If you've read past Instagram recaps, you know how I feel about the Creamy Jalapeño Dip (I should just drink it and skip the chips). And of course, there's the frozen concoctions. This time, I took our waiter's suggestion and had a strawberry pina colada - which is weird, because I haven't had a pina colada in about 20 years, and I usually steer away from strawberry-flavored drinks (even though I love strawberries). It was so good, I gave myself brain freeze several times by drinking it too quickly! That's a recommendation, in case you wondered.
(Side note: Apparently Chuy's likes that I post pics of their frozen drinks because they started following me on Instagram!! Yay!)
On Monday it snowed, so Gus worked from home, and I stayed in sweatpants all day because it was freezing both outside and in. I snapped this photo of Riley, our mini Aussie. He's my shadow. Always glued to my side, under my feet (literally), and on the alert for stranger danger. Of course, stranger danger includes the mail truck, UPS truck, a dog walking on the sidewalk across the street, and a bag blowing across the yard. After 9 years, we've learned to differentiate between his barks. Unless it's a "I'm going to lunge through this window immediately" bark, we just say "Okay, thanks - you can stop barking now." Which only stops the barking about 50% of the time. Silly pup.
On Tuesday, I ran across these gorgeous red flats on the Asos website. I swear I heard angels sing. I started planning outfits around them. The shoes, not the angels. And they're on sale! So far, I haven't bought them, but I really want them. Wouldn't they make the perfect Valentine's Day gift? Gus? Are you reading this?? I really, really love these shoes. They want to come live with me. Free shipping & returns, too!
On Wednesday, I made granola for Buddy. I started making granola several years ago, and everyone loved it, but especially Buddy. He's been asking me to make it for awhile now, but everything has been so hectic, I haven't had time. If you've never made homemade granola, it's really pretty easy- and this is a great recipe. I love that you can add whatever your family likes best. You can find my recipe here. This version has oats, sliced almonds, chopped walnuts, dried cranberries, dried blueberries, honey, brown sugar, and vanilla.
On Thursday, I had an appointment for an eye exam, so I wore a new grey cardigan that I bought at Nordstrom and my newest Stella & Dot necklace. I really love the cardigan! It's warm and cozy, but lightweight enough that it's not bulky under your coat. It drapes nicely and is the perfect length to wear with jeans or leggings. It's the Halogen V-Neck Cardigan, and I picked it up for $35.40 (orig. $59). I believe it is still on sale for that price, and it comes in 3 colors. The description says it runs "true to size", but I think it runs a little on the small size. I normally wear a medium, and I ordered a large, and it fits perfectly - it's not oversized at all - it fits just like the grey one does on the model in the picture.
And I have to tell you how much I love this Stella & Dot Arrow Drop necklace! It's reversible - one side is pavé and the other is silver - and it is just stunning! I've received compliments every time I've worn it. It sells for $59, but I bought mine with the Dot Dollars I had from Christmas, so I saved $25. It looks awesome layered with the reversible Aurora necklace the kids got me for Christmas, too!
On Friday, I had a blog post about comparing drugstore and designer brands of makeup setting sprays. I've recently become a big fan of setting sprays. If you have fine lines and/or wrinkles, they can be your BFF! I'm going to be doing a blog post about that soon. But for now, I compared NYX's Matte Finish to Urban Decay's All Nighter. They were fairly similar, but price wasn't the only difference. You can read more about it here.
And on Saturday, Gus and I finally got to meet our first great-niece, the beautiful Princess Izzy! She arrived about 6 weeks early, but only had to stay in the hospital a few days, so we suspect that maybe she was only about 4 weeks early like my Lulu. She's 5 weeks old now and weighs almost 8 lbs! She's so pretty, and so very precious - and I can't wait to teach her everything I know about makeup, shoes, and purses! This picture is a little grainy because of awkward lighting, but you can still see how cute she is!! (I'm wearing the infamous Sun & Shadow turtleneck in a size S from Nordstrom - unfortunately, I think it's still OOS.)
I hope to see you on Instagram this week! If you enjoyed this post and aren't already following me on Instagram, I'd love to connect with you!
