Adventures of Gus and Kim: Another Scottish Festival!

Gus and I went on another little overnight trip a couple of weeks ago - this one was to Columbus, Indiana. They had a Scottish Festival and we wanted to go since the last time we attended was around 1992. Back then, my grandparents were still living and they came with us, as did the kids.

We decided to stay overnight in nearby Edinburgh, Indiana, since there is an outlet mall right there. (I'll let you decide who had that idea.) And by "right there", I mean you walk across an access road between the hotel and the mall. You can walk across the hotel parking lot to Cracker Barrel for breakfast the next day, too. Very convenient.

They recently remodeled this Comfort Inn, so everything is nice and new - and clean!

Just a few things I need when I travel - to keep me happy...

and the most important thing...

Okay - back to the Columbus Scottish Festival. It's grown a bit since we were last here, but it's still fairly small - and rural. Very rural. Did I mention that it's rural?

One thing that we noticed - and I think we may have enjoyed this more than the actual festival - everyone brought their dogs! Not just the dogs for the sheep herding - all kinds of dogs!

There were big dogs...

and bigger dogs...

and big dogs with friends...

fancy dogs...

and even dogs in kilts!

We only stayed a couple of hours. Admission was $10 per person, there were only a couple of food booths, and there wasn't any place to sit. We probably won't go back, but we did have a good time. Especially once we got to the outlet mall!!
