Adventures of Gus and Kim: Best Pizza in Newport, Kentucky!

Did you see my recent post about the Newport Italian Festival - or see my Snapchat or Insta-stories? If so, then you heard/saw me raving about the Best. Cannoli. Ever. And it came from the Newport Pizza Company!

I'll be honest - I had never heard of the Newport Pizza Company (NPC) until I saw their booth at this year's Italian Festival - and I've lived in Northern Kentucky since 2007. They opened in 2009, and in 2010, they were featured in the article "Amazing Pizza from Across the U.S." on delish.com.

When I mentioned NPC to Gus and Buddy, they both said they knew of it and heard it was really good. Who keeps that kind of information from their wife/mama?? Naturally, I told Gus we had to go there for dinner. As soon as possible.

First things first. If you've ever been to Newport, then you know that parking is at a premium. Most places don't have their own parking, so you're left to try to find a spot on the street or in one of  the pay-to-park lots. Good news! NPC has a dedicated parking lot!

It sits on the corner of Monmouth and E. 6th Street and the parking lot curves around the side and back of the building.

The interior isn't very large, but it's cozy. I loved the decor - it just looks like one of the pizza places I used to frequent as a teen. Oh, the memories!

inside Newport Pizza Company - cream upper walls, dark red lower walls, booths and tables and chairs, TV on the wall

They do have a bar, but the local craft beer we ordered was in a bottle. I didn't notice whether they had other beer on tap or not.

Gus ordered a sausage pizza with extra cheese, and declared it to be delicious...

I ordered the East Row sandwich - capicola, salami, and pepperoni, topped with three cheeses, lettuce, tomato - served hot with a pickle on the side. Yummy!

Soooo good, guys!

But the best part, of course, was the cannoli!! Seriously the best cannoli I've ever had. In. My. Life. I want one now just thinking about it.

Prices are reasonable, too. 12" sausage and extra cheese pizza, East Row sandwich, two bottles of craft beer, and a cannoli = $30 plus tip.

Bonus: Just around the corner on York Street is Wooden Cask Brewery! You know we stopped, and there will be a review very soon!
