Why You Need to Join the Dollar Shave Club

Today, I have a special treat for you! Gus is going to give you his review of the Dollar Shave Club and tell you why you need to subscribe!

Why You Need To Subscribe to the Dollar Shave Club

Hey! Gus here...

Let me just tell you… I HATE shaving.

I had to start shaving when I was 14 and I’m now 49. Just imagine 35 years of scraping steel blades across my face only to have 5 o’clock shadow 2 hours after I finished shaving.

To make matters worse, I’m cursed with a coarse, heavy beard (thanks, Dad). And then to add insult to injury, for years I’ve been paying $20 for a 4 pack of the premium razor blades thinking it was the only way to get a smooth comfortable shave.

As you can imagine, with my beard, I can ruin a blade after only a few shaves. So, one day, my wife suggested I try Dollar Shave Club. I had seen the ads on TV, but was skeptical, so I continued on buying those really expensive blades. Then, out of the blue, my wife surprised me with a package from Dollar Shave Club! And guess what? - The blades were great!

What a monthly subscription box from Dollar Shave Club might look like

They shave every bit as close and comfortable as a premium blade for about a quarter of the cost ($6 per month for four 4-blade cartridges). And to think of all that money I wasted buying premium blades over the years!

I chose the 4-blade cartridges

Dollar Shave Club also has shaving accessories like shave butter and post shave balm. The post shave balm is awesome because it soothes your skin after shaving and makes it really soft. They included a free sample in last month's box, and I liked it so much, I ordered a full-size bottle to be included in this month's box (hey, she's paying for it, right?). The shave butter is nice, but it's not quite thick enough to work for my heavy beard. It would probably be fine for a normal beard.

Dollar Shave Club's Shave Butter - smells like lavender.

You get an email about a week prior to your monthly shipment - as a reminder that it will be shipped soon, and asking if you would like to add anything too your order. You can order extra blades, a new handle, shave butter, post shave balm, repair serum (for bumps and ingrown hairs), butt wipes (not sure how these fit in, but okay), and their newest offering - hair styling products.

I highly recommend it!!

My beard - before and after shaving with one of the 4-blade cartridges

Here's some of the "technical" info:
When you order, you have a choice of 3 types of cartridges:
(a free handle comes with each)
  • five 2-blade cartridges per month, $1 plus $2 s/h
  • four 4-blade cartridges per month, $6 free s/h
  • four 6-blade cartridges per month, $9 free s/h

No extra fees, no commitment, cancel anytime. Satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. Don't need 4 blades every month? Switch to every other month. Need more than 4? Order extra. You’re free to change razor plans anytime. If you do, the new handle is FREE. This is actually one of the most reasonable monthly subscription plans I've seen. If you shave - you owe it to yourself to give it a try!
