Product review: My Favorite Living Proof® Hair Products

I like my hair to look good. I don't want to look like I'm trying to be too young or too trendy, but of course, I'd like to look as young as possible - and not like my hair style is stuck in the 80's. I think I've found "the one" for me (I've worn this color for over 30 years and the style for about 10 years), because just about everywhere I go, someone will compliment my hair color and style. I've even had people ask if they can take a picture of it to show their stylist! It's crazy! I carry business cards for my stylist because I feel like it's all his work, LOL! But I do have to take care of it and style it myself, and I swear a lot of how it looks is due to Living Proof® hair products.

My Favorite Living Proof hair care products

I'm in love.

I mean I really, really, really love these hair care products. This isn't a sponsored post (although there are some affiliate links below that help support {enjoy the view}). These are products that I purchased myself, that I use all of the time, simply because I love them. I love the look of the bottles. I love the consistency and fragrance of the products. I love how they make my hair look and feel! They are a little pricey, but for me, a little goes a long way, and I don't shampoo daily, so they last awhile.

No parabens, no sulfates, and no phthalates.

And just look at Jennifer Aniston! Seriously, who doesn't wish they had her hair? It's incredible! I totally have a girl crush on her.

I knew she was co-owner of Living Proof®, and reportedly uses those products, so last year, when Sephora offered a mini kit of products that could be "purchased" with Beauty Points, I jumped right on it. That was my first experience with Living Proof® - and I haven't looked back.

I've tried several products in the Living Proof® line:
  • Restore shampoo
  • Restore conditioner
  • Restore Mask Treatment
  • Restore Instant Protection Spray
  • No Frizz shampoo
  • No Frizz conditioner
  • No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream
  • Perfect Hair Day™ shampoo
  • Perfect Hair Day™ conditioner
  • Perfect Hair Day™ 5-in-1 Styling Treatment
  • Prime Style Extender™
  • Prime Style Extender™ Spray
  • Amp2 Instant Texture Volumizer
(I told you I had tried several - I wasn't lying! LOL!)

But these are my favorites:

All of the shampoos in the line are sulfate-free, which is great. Most sulfate-free shampoos I've used in the past didn't lather much (if at all), and tended to leave my hair feeling a bit on the dry side. These shampoos are thick and creamy AND they produce a full, thick, lather. I love the light, fresh scent and the way my hair feels after it's rinsed. It almost feels like it doesn't need conditioner! No tangles! I have long hair (to the bottom of my shoulder blades) that is thick and wavy - it only takes about a teaspoon of shampoo to make a full head of thick, luxurious lather. Amazing!
The No-Frizz shampoos come in 2 oz. and 8 oz. sizes ranging in price from $10-28.
The Restore shampoos come in 2 oz. and 8 oz. sizes ranging in price from $10-28.

The conditioners have a nice lightweight, creamy consistency and the same scent as the shampoos. They free any lingering tangles and leave my hair feeling incredibly soft without weighing it down, which is really important to me.
The No-Frizz conditioners come in 2 oz. and 8 oz. sizes ranging in price from $10-28.
The Restore conditioners come in 2 oz. and 8 oz. sizes ranging in price from $10-28.

This is "a weightless hairstyling primer that protects and extends the life of your style". It also detangles, smooths, and keeps hair cleaner longer. I. LOVE. THIS. STUFF. It really does keep my hair clean longer. I usually go 2-3 days without washing my hair (unless I get really sweaty), but with this I can easily go longer. I know some of you may think that's gross - but when you have long hair, it's not good to wash it too often. They have a spray version of this now - but I prefer the "gel".
The tube comes in 2 oz. , 5 oz. , and 24 oz. with prices ranging from $12-59.
The spray comes in 1.7 oz. and 3.4 oz. ranging in price from $12-20.

This is a lightweight cream that "eliminates frizz by weightlessly blocking humidity". I like this styling cream a lot - and I don't usually use styling products. I mix it half & half with the Prime Style Extender. I used to have major issues with humidity causing my hair to wavy and curl, especially if we were in Florida. I don't know if it's this product or the combination of all of them together, but I don't have any problems with humidity anymore!
This comes in 2 oz. , 4 oz. , and 8 oz. with prices ranging from $15-36.

This is "a weightless heat and UV protectant spray that can be used on damp or dry hair." But it's so much more! It gives you total heat protection up to 450° during the styling process. It provides shine, smoothness, polish, and blocks humidity. It's greaseless, so you can combine it with other styling products. And it's an Allure Best of Beauty winner. I love this stuff! A lot of reviewers said they hated the smell. I admit, it's not as great as the other stuff, but it's an aerosol. I just hold my breath while I spray, and the smell dissipates quickly. But the shine!!! If you don't know, it's difficult to get processed blonde hair to actually shine - but this stuff does it. Amazing! Since I use this whenever I straighten my hair, I go through this more quickly than any of the other products. But I love it so much that I'm willing to suck up the cost!
This comes in 1.8 oz. and 5.5 oz. with prices ranging from $17-26.

One of the major things I noticed after using these products is that my hair stays straight much longer. In the past, if I pulled my hair up in a clip or ponytail holder, when I removed it, there would be a huge "dent" in the back of my hair. After sleeping on my hair, it would be a crumpled, wrinkled mess in the morning. Now, it stays smooth and straight! I don't understand how or why this happens, but I'm very happy that it does!

The texture of my hair is smoother, and it just feels better. Even my stylist says that my hair is in great shape and told me to keep doing whatever it is that I'm doing. Yay!

I mentioned above that the products last awhile for me. When I say awhile, I mean a long, long while. I just ordered new bottles of shampoo and conditioner, and I checked to see when I last purchased them. I was shocked to see that it was - wait for it - 15 months ago! Now, I have to be honest and tell you that I did use another shampoo for about a month during that time (gotta test those Influenster VoxBox products, right?). I also had a few samples of Living Proof® products that I used. And I had surgery on my ankle, so there was very little hairwashing going on during that first 6 weeks after the surgery. But for the majority of that 15 months, I only used the 8 oz. Living Proof® products.

Let's use our girl math skills:
8 oz. = 240 cc
1 tsp. = 5 cc
about 50 shampoos per bottle
shampoo every 4-5 days - shampoo/conditioner lasts 200-250 days
30 days per month - shampoo/conditioner lasts about 7-8 months = about $7-8/month

So even though $56 seems like a lot for shampoo and conditioner, when it lasts for at least 7 months, and costs $7-8/month, it really isn't that much in the long run!

Have you tried Living Proof® hair products?
If so, which one(s) is/are your favorite?
Don't you just love Jennifer Anniston??
