Adventures of Gus and Kim: Santa's Elves - Newport on the Levee, Newport, Kentucky

The other day, Gus & I went to the Levee to see the Shillito's Elves. These are animatronic elves that used to be in windows at Shillito's department store (later became Lazarus, and is now Macy's) in downtown Cincinnati. They were displayed from 1955-1982, and were a holiday tradition for many. They were purchased and restored and are now on display again. Of course, they're no longer free, but the small charge helps keep the elves in working order.

Considering when they were constructed, they're amazing. I won't post all of the pictures, but I wanted to share a few of my favorites.

All those elves were moving! Pretty nifty, huh?

This is a picture of the Riverwalk at the Levee - all of the lights are timed to music. Very cool! And there are a lot of fun things to do...

And this is a picture of the Cincinnati skyline at night!

Stay tuned for more holiday fun!!
Kim
