Gus and I have been vacationing in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area for the past 26 years. Our first trip there was our honeymoon in 1988. We loved the area and often come back - even if it's just for a couple of days. Over the years, we've stayed in a lot of different places. Our most recent rental was definitely one of our favorites.
We rented a lovely cabin in Pigeon Forge, just minutes from Dollywood and the Parkway. I found it on vrbo.com (we've done a lot of rentals here) - which is a site that has vacation rentals by owner. The cabin we chose was called "Paradise View" and had a gorgeous panoramic view of 7 mountain ranges from both wraparound decks.
This home had it all! As you walked in on the first floor, there was a kitchen straight ahead, and a living room ahead and to the left. But what you really noticed was the wall of glass that looked out over the mountains!
There was a bedroom and bathroom on each of the three levels so that everyone had privacy if they wanted it. The first floor bedroom and bath were just off the kitchen area.
The top floor was the master bedroom and bath - equipped with a jetted tub.
The lower floor had another bedroom and bath, as well as a ping pong table, pool table, and air hockey.
We took advantage of the hot tub on the upper deck almost every night. I have no idea why I have no pictures of the hot tub! But I have plenty of pictures of the view!
The owners, Ken and Linda, are wonderful! We had some rain while we were there, and one night there was a pretty severe thunderstorm that apparently knocked out the electricity (we were out on the town at the time). When we returned to the cabin, we discovered that we had no water. A quick call to maintenance led to a return call from Linda, who informed us that the pump house at the bottom of the hill had been shut off when the electricity went out, but they were working to correct the problem. She stayed in constant contact with us until the issue was resolved. By morning, everything was functioning again. Now that's fantastic customer service!
The location of the cabin was extremely convenient, too. If you're familiar with the Parkway, you turn left at Dollywood Lane. If you're not familiar with the area, Dollywood Lane is at the far end of Pigeon Forge - the end closest to Gatlinburg. We were just 7 miles from the Parkway - and about halfway between Gatlinburg and all the activity in Pigeon Forge. Perfect!
So if you're planning a vacation to the Gatlingburg/Pigeon Forge area, I highly recommend contacting Ken & Linda!
Stay tuned for more about our adventures in Tennessee!!
(Disclaimer: This review was not solicited or compensated. I just really liked the cabin and wanted to share it with you!)
