Product Review: Conair Infiniti Pro 1.5" Tourmaline Ceramic Straightener

I admit it. I'm a flat iron snob. Or at least I used to be...

I think I bought my first flat iron about 10-12 years ago. It was relatively inexpensive - I think I bought it at Sally's Beauty Supply. I can't remember the brand, but since I had nothing with which to compare it, I thought it was great.

But then I kept seeing all of these reviews online about the CHI flat irons. Everyone raved over them. Eventually, I decided I had to have one - and thus began my life as a flat iron snob. Over the next several years, I owned 3 different CHI irons. There was just one problem - they only seemed to last about 2 years. Then 3-4 years ago, I got a great deal on a Sedu iron - and it was fabulous, too. It lasted a little longer than the CHIs, but one day it sparked, scared the crap out of me, and melted the cord so that it was dangling by a tiny thread.

Desperate, and not wanting to spend $100 or more, I stopped at Walmart, hoping to find a deal on something. After looking over the selection, I decided on a Conair Infiniti Pro 1.5" Tourmaline Ceramic Straightener for under $40.

I admit, I didn't have high expectations. I just hoped it would work reasonably well until I could find a deal on a "better" product. But I was pleasantly surprised!

In my opinion, this straightener works just as well as the higher-priced straighteners I've owned. Apparently, they've improved over the years. Yay!! My hair is thick and naturally wavy, making it a little difficult to straighten, but if I use small enough sections, I only have to pass this iron over my hair once to straighten it. Not only is that great time-wise, it also limits the amount of heat on my hair, so it's less likely to become heat-damaged. (These pics of my hair make it look a little dry - but it's just that the pics are a bit grainy. They were taken with my phone.)

  • ceramic coating for better glide
  • 4 temperature settings
  • swivel cord, so less stress on cord
  • auto shut-off

Cons:
  • I really can't think of any

Re-purchase? Yes, I really think that I would buy this flat iron again. You can't beat the price, so even if it only lasts a couple of years, it doesn't break the bank. Plus it works great, too!

Do you use a flat iron? What brand? How does it work for you? Would you repurchase?

(Disclaimer: I did not receive any type of compensation for this post. I purchased the product myself, and my opinions, as always, are 100% my own.)

  2. I'm glad to know this. My daughter straightens her hair every day and we've been forking out $$ for the CHI. I'll let her know!

    1. I hope it works out for her & she's able to save a little money. I don't like to compromise on the way my hair looks, so I'm willing to pay more if I need to - but if I can find something that works well AND saves me money, well, sign me up!! LOL!

    1. Definitely check it out! And if you don't like it, I think Walmart has a pretty liberal return/exchange policy!
