Shopping with Lulu

Lulu asked me to go shopping with her last week. We don't get to spend a lot of time together since she's so busy with school and work, so I was happy to get to spend the afternoon with her.

She needed to get an outfit for an interview. She's a senior in college, majoring in pre-pharmacy. She applied to two pharmacy schools, and received an invitation to interview at her first-choice school! Get this - over 500 applications are received, only 200 of those are invited to interview, and only 100 are admitted to the school. So we are, understandably, extremely proud of the fact that she was invited to interview! Keep your fingers crossed for her!!

Anyway, we shopped at stores that I don't normally shop at - and I actually found some cute things! And great prices!

At New York & Co., they were having a jewelry sale, and I grabbed these cute earrings for $5 and the bracelet for $7!!

At Rue 21, I got this necklace for $8, and the plaid/floral shirt for $20! The shirt is a silky woven rayon, so it's very figure-skimming/drapey. Love the colors and the floral contrast!

And at Forever 21, I found these two shirts! The black & grey one is a silky t-shirt fabric ($13), so it's figure-skimming/drapey, too. The green & white striped one ($17) is like fitted menswear - love it!

Since these were junior-size stores, I did have to go up a size - which is always annoying, but hey, size is like age - just a number (or a letter, as the case may be). So if you're like me, and don't usually shop those stores, give it a try! It's a great way to add a few trendy pieces to your wardrobe without spending too much money!!
